Who are partybagssavelives.com?
Currently we are just two families in Manchester whose kids go to Pownall Green Primary School in Bramhall. We have partnered with the Against Malaria Foundation (www.againstmalaria.com) to ensure that 100% of any money raised by Party Bags Save Lives goes to buy mosquito nets.
Our kids Sam, Lewis, Victoria and James are all planning to buy mosquito nets instead of party bags in their upcoming birthday parties. As a start this will buy over 50 mosquito nets for families in some of the poorest countries in the world.
Pownall Green Primary School have started an initiative to get everyone involved and to start a running total of mosquito nets purchased by the school - their aim is to get to 500 nets by July 2010. They have developed a display in the school reception that has a real mosquito net and lots of information on how nets help prevent malaria. A specific page www.againstmalaria.com/pownallgreen4nets has been set up to track their progress. Our aim is for other schools across the country to get involved, along with beavers, cubs and other kids groups, to drive the numbers of nets upwards! Each organisation can have their own specific web page.
Please get in touch if you'd like to get involved. We can help you set up your school or kids group initiative by providing a net and all the information you need.
Party bags really can save lives!
